Motorcycle Mama! Sarah Palin in hot leather at Rolling Thunder
Sarah Palin is now a 1 percenter, trading in hopes of running for president to join a motorcycle gang.
Just kidding. The pictures and video below show Palin at the Rolling Thunder rally in Washington DC earlier today; the rally went from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC.
Sarah Palin, Todd, Bristol, and Piper appeared and rode in the event (link). Only Todd drove a chopper, with Piper on the back; Sara Palin and Bristol rode on the back with other riders. In other words, it was just a photo op.
The video below shows a Fox News reporter "cross-examining" Palin about the finer point of her Cap and Trade policy position. Just kidding again: the Fox reporter (as do all other reporters) just asks her a trivial question.
In her response, Palin sticks up for the use of fossil fuels, saying "I love that smell of the emissions".
Updated with a video of Palin waving from the, er, "rear seat" of a Harley.
UPDATE: Keep scrolling for the videos, but first enjoy the thoughts of John Hinderaker of Powerline (powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/05/029122.php):
In principle, other politicians could do the same thing. Maybe some have. What is different about Sarah Palin and her family is that they look natural on motorcycles. Imagine Barack Obama--or, to be bipartisan, Mitt Romney--trying to mingle with the bikers and look at home on a Harley. Heck, if one of the motorcycles broke down, Todd undoubtedly could fix it. And when Sarah greeted the crowd before the ride began, the affection from her fans didn't need to be feigned or bused in... Oh, one more thing I almost forgot: she looks so darned good. What press photographer could resist this?
As with everything else he says, take that with a big grain of salt. Especially considering what Hinderaker said about George W. Bush in 2005 (powerlineblog.com/archives/2005/07/011024.php):
It must be very strange to be President Bush. A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can't get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile... Hyperbolic? Well, maybe. But consider Bush's latest master stroke: the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate...
